Bacon & Cheese Bread Dip
Another classic party favourite, this tasty cob loaf recipe with a creamy bacon and cheese filling will make you the Queen or King of party dips!

Ingredients
Method
- 1 round loaf of bread, a cob loaf works well
- 1 cup of cream cheese, softened
- 1-1/2 cups of sour cream
- 2 cups grated cheese
- 1 -1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 350g sliced bacon, cooked and diced
- 1/2 cup spring onions
-
Preheat oven to 180C/160C fan-forced. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
-
Cut 4cm off top of cob loaf to form lid. Scoop bread from centre of loaf, leaving 1.5cm edge. Tear or roughly chop bread pieces.
-
Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add onion and bacon. Cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until bacon is browned and onion has softened. Remove from heat.
-
Stir in creamed cheese. Mix until combined. Add sour cream and grated cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
-
Spoon mixture into loaf. Top with lid. Place torn bread pieces on the baking tray. Bake for 20 minutes or until bread pieces are golden brown. Serve warm, using the toasted bread for dipping.
How do I serve the cob loaf?
Use the lightly toasted chunks of bread from the loaf to dip, or you can slice up some extra bread, sliced veges like carrots, celery or capsicum. Crackers work well too.
How long will my cob loaf last?
You can prep the filling ahead of time by keeping it in the fridge until you need it. Once you're baked it, it's best served warm and eaten straight away.
What bread should I use?
Fresh, white round cob loaf is best, but any white or wheat loaf from the PAK'nSAVE bakery will do.
