PAK’nSAVE rolls into Rolleston - South Island’s largest store nears completion

Rolleston and the Selwyn District are set to welcome the South Island’s largest new supermarket, with PAK’nSAVE Rolleston now in the final stages of construction ahead of its opening in October. “PAK’nSAVE Rolleston isn’t just about delivering New Zealand’s lowest food prices - it’s built to support the region’s growth, resilience, and readiness for whatever the future holds,” she said. “This is a store designed to stand strong and serve the community.” Read more

It all began in Kaitāia in 1985 when Gaylene Voss and her late husband Barrie, opened the very first PAK’nSAVE. With exposed walls, shelves stocked with staples like mutton, candles and beef dripping, and a focus on no-frills, the “barn store” was a bold new concept for Kiwi shoppers. Read more here.

PAK’nSAVE Highland Park brings more choice and low prices to East Auckland

PAK’nSAVE Highland Park has officially opened its doors, adding more choice and New Zealand’s lowest grocery prices to the vibrant grocery scene in East Auckland.

The $100 million supermarket joins a bustling retail area with seven other grocery retailers within a one-kilometre radius, offering shoppers even more options. While Woolworths sits right next door, PAK’nSAVE will also compete with a diverse range of niche and specialty stores, showcasing the thriving and dynamic nature of the Highland Park community. Construction under way on the South Island’s largest PAK’nSAVE store

Foodstuffs South Island is excited to be delivering its latest state-of-the-art store, PAK’nSAVE Rolleston, which will be located on Levi Road within a new shopping hub that’s under development. 

PAK’nSAVE Rolleston is set to open at the end of 2025, in time for the busy Christmas trading period. It’ll be the co-op’s latest PAK’nSAVE store, following the opening of PAK’nSAVE Papanui in March 2024. Read more

Experienced grocers excited about taking the reins at PAK’nSAVE Richmond

Owning five different supermarkets in one lifetime might be enough for some people, but Glenn and Tracey Anderson, the new owner operators of PAK'nSAVE Richmond, have no intention of slowing down just yet. The husband and wife team have recently taken the reins of the local PAK’nSAVE, the largest store they have ever operated, after previously owning and operating New World Nelson City, but Glenn says the pair are ready for the challenge. PAK’nSAVE has been named the country's most trusted supermarket for the 13th year in a row, in the latest Reader's Digest New Zealand Trusted Brands survey. 
 
The survey, which has been running for 25 years, asked almost 1,800 Kiwis to rate their favourite brands across 66 categories of products and services covering a broad range of industries, ranking values like trustworthiness, quality, reliability, and awareness. Read more.

 

PAK’nSAVE Albany’s revamp a huge hit with customers

18 April 2024

PAK’nSAVE Albany’s multi-year renovation is complete, with the revitalised store offering locals a state-of-the-art shopping experience, updated product range and renewed focus on sustainability. Inside, PAK’nSAVE Albany’s redesigned layout welcomes customers through an expanded entrance that now features a café serving barista coffee, with a variety of freshly made treats like breakfast muffins and hot chicken and chips, and a customer service desk with Lotto. PAK'nSAVE Papanui set to open ahead of Easter

21 February 2024. Foodstuffs South Island is excited to be bringing a brand new standalone PAK’nSAVE store to the community of Papanui in time for Easter 2024. The store will replace PAK’nSAVE Northlands, located just over 2km away in Northlands Mall, which will be closing just ahead of the opening of the new store. Read more.

 

PAK’nSAVE Rangiora gifts refurbished electric walkie stacker to help feed the community

Owner-Operators farewell PAK’nSAVE Invercargill after 31 Years

December 2023. It was a very different world in 1992 when Bryan and Anne Dobson first took the reins as owner-operators of PAK’nSAVE Invercargill, one of only two PAK’nSAVE stores in the South Island at the time. Bryan and Anne are beginning the process of passing PAK’nSAVE Invercargill on to the incoming new owners – Brent and Nicola Prue, the former owners of New World Hokitika. Read more

 

Nivesh Nitendra Wins $12,000 PAK’nSAVE Pukekohe Scholarship

December 2023. Waiuku College student Niviesh Nitendra has won the 2023 PAK’nSAVE Pukekohe Scholarship. The impressive recipient will put the $12,000 scholarship fund towards studying a Bachelor of Health Sciences at The University of Auckland. Read more

 

PAK’nSAVE Extends 'PAK Your Pantry' to Support Cyclone-Affected Esk Valley Community & Announces Long Term Plan for Addressing Food Insecurity in the Hawke’s Bay
