Burgers three ways

We all have a favourite burger, so to keep everyone happy have plenty of toppings available to make their own delicious combination. These three recipes give you ideas for delicious, flavourful burgers.

Ingredients

Method

Beef Burger with Feta

  • 500g Prime Minced Beef
  • 1/2 red onion finely chopped
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • handful chopped fresh herbs
  • 2 tsp grainy mustard
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • flour for dusting
  • sliced feta cheese

 

Lamb and Spinach

  • 400g Prime Minced Lamb
  • 40g pine nuts
  • 40g fresh spinach
  • handful chopped fresh herbs
  • flour for dusting
  • salt and pepper to taste

 

Pork and Pineapple

  • 400g Minced pork
  • 1 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Tabasco sauce
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 can crushed pineapple, drained
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. In a large bowl gently mix together the burger ingredients for your chosen burger. Shape the patties into six patties of similar size and thickness (about 2 cm thickness). Dust lightly with flour to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook on a very hot grill for 8 to 10 minutes, turning once halfway through the cooking time.
  3. For a cheese topping add a thin slice to the top of a patty during the last minutes of grilling.
  4. Serve on toasted buns, with all your favourite fillings – we have some suggestions below.

Suggested fillings

Beef Burger with Feta

  • Onion jam or relish with cheddar or Swiss cheese.
  • Tomato sauce, mustard, pickles and cheese.
  • Lettuce, beetroot and a fried egg.

Pork and Pineapple

  • Red onion, mayonnaise or aioli.
  • Slice of pineapple and cheddar.
  • Coleslaw.

Lamb and Spinach

  • Feta, red onion and chutney.
  • Tzatziki and cucumber.
  • Roasted red pepper and cheese.
  • Garlic aioli and rocket.

Here are some burger basics that you can add to any burger:

  • Wholegrain or American mustard
  • Tomato or barbecue sauce
  • Sliced gherkins or pickles
  • Pineapple rings
  • Sliced beetroot
  • Chutney, relish or onion jam
  • Sliced cheese: cheddar, gruyere, Swiss
  • Lettuce or rocket leaves
  • Tomatoes
