Quiche

Easy ham and cheese quiche

A classic quiche is a great recipe to master, as it's a delicious, nutritious and filling meal for the whānau and it's also a great way to use leftover vegetables or whatever is in your fridge. Our easy version uses premade pastry so it's even quicker to make!

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of frozen shortcrust pastry

  • 6 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup grated cheese

  • 1 cup cooked frozen mixed vegetables*

  • 1/2 cup ham (diced)

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 Fresh herbs for garnish

* Use frozen mixed vegetables or use up leftovers from your fridge.

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.

  2. Place your pastry in a large pie or quiche dish.

  3. In a bowl, beat together the eggs, milk and cheese. Season with salt and pepper then pour the over filling.

  4. Bake for 30-40 minutes. Rest for 5 minutes on a wire rack before serving.

  5. Evenly place the cooked vegetables and ham over the pastry.

To serve

Eat warm from the oven with a side-salad and relish, or store in the fridge and reheat for a quick lunch or after-school snack.
