Pork meatballs in tomato sauce
Tasty pork meatballs with a deliciously rich tomato sauce, for a hearty, filling Italian-inspired dinner.

Method
- 500g 100% NZ Trim Pork mince
- 1x egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp garlic stock powder
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 500g jar pasta sauce (tomato)
- Fresh herbs, chopped
- Combine the pork, egg, tomato paste, stock powder and parmesan cheese. Mix well. Shape into porkballs 2 - 3 cm in diameter.
- Place the porkballs in an ovenproof dish in a single layer. Pour the sauce over. Cover.
- Cook in a preheated oven 180°C for 20 - 30 minutes or until the porkballs are just cooked.
Tips
- Serve sprinkled with chopped fresh herbs and pasta.

FAQs
- Should eggs be beaten for meatballs?
The egg does not need to be beaten before adding to the meatball mix. If you would like, you can lightly beat it, but otherwise it’s not necessary.
- Is it better to put milk or water in meatballs?
Unless your meatballs are very dry, you don’t need to add any liquid to them.
