  • 2 tbsp sugar

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  2. In a medium bowl, gently toss the chopped feijoas with the sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Transfer the mixture to an oven-safe baking dish (about 20cm).
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and oats. Add the brown sugar and mix well.
  4. Rub the cold, cubed butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Use your fingers, a pastry blender or a fork for this.
  5.  Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the feijoa filling and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown.

To serve

Let the crumble cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream, custard, yogurt or cream.

Tips

  • Taste your feijoas before adding sugar. If they are very sweet, you may need less sugar.
  • Add other fruit like sliced apples, berries, or raisins to the filling for extra flavor and texture.
  • For extra flavour add a pinch of nutmeg or ginger to the filling or the crumble topping.
  • For extra crunch and flavor, add ¼ cup of chopped nuts (like walnuts or almonds) to the crumble topping.
