How long can raw chicken stay in the fridge?

Fresh, raw chicken can last in the fridge for 2 days but must be cooked before the use-by-date, even if that is sooner. Freeze it if you don’t plan to cook it within that time.

Can you freeze cooked chicken?

Yes, you can freeze cooked chicken for up to 3 months. Freeze the chicken as soon after cooking as possible to minimise bacterial growth. You can also store cooked chicken in the fridge for up to 2 days before freezing.

Reheating chicken

For a succulent, bacteria-free, chicken dinner, reheat the chicken thoroughly until the centre reaches a core temperature of 75℃ when bacteria is destroyed. Add a little water, gravy or stock to prevent the chicken drying out.
