PAK'nSAVE has been independently tested by the Consumers Institute to have New Zealand's lowest overall food prices every year since 1997.
We follow a food warehouse format unique to New Zealand supermarket shopping. We buy and stock a range of everyday basic products in bulk, and because we can do this in such large volumes we can pass the cost savings onto you, in the form of New Zealand's lowest overall food prices. You will always find great prices in store - we pride ourselves on getting the best deals by taking advantage of opportunities to negotiate in the marketplace.
Cutting costs to save you money
We're also working hard everyday to reduce costs in-store - so you'll find that our plain style stores have no fancy floor coverings, extravagant shelving or expensive lighting.
In our stores, we offer a practical and functional environment with wide aisles, where the grocery items are stacked on the shelf in their boxes so that it's easy to shop, and there are lots of checkouts to get you on your way as quickly as possible.
We do ask you to pack your own groceries, as we know that you don't want to pay for any extras hidden in the price of the goods.
Because we reduce our costs by these methods, we can pass the savings directly on to you, without reducing the quality of the products we offer.
You only need to check out our fresh food departments to find great quality fruit and vegetables, meat, seafood, deli and bakery items, all at competitively low prices.
History - saving since the '80s
The PAK'nSAVE group began with the opening of the first store in Kaitaia in 1985.
Foodstuffs are the co-operative New World, PAK'nSAVE and Four Square stores belong. Foodstuffs was founded in 1922 by members of the Auckland Master Grocers Association, who formed a co-operative buying group. Originally all the stores used the name Four Square, with New World established in 1963 and PAK'nSAVE in 1986.
Together the Foodstuffs companies have become New Zealand's fourth largest business. Two co-operative companies now exist, Foodstuffs North Island and Foodstuffs South Island Ltd, and each operates independently from the other, but communicate and co-operate nationally on some issues. They are New Zealand's largest food retailers.
Each store within the group is proudly individually owned and operated.
Who is Stickman?
Stickman has been our spokesperson for more than 10 years. We use him in our advertising not because he's handsome or tall, and not because he's related to any bigwigs in the company. We only use him because he's cheap! He's a fan of low prices and dad jokes.
