5 tips to make mince go further

A trick Claire does is buying a bulk lot of mince and separates it into individual servings at home. Then freezes them flat so it is quick and easy to defrost when you need it. 


1. Add mushrooms

When adding veggies to your dish is doesn't have to be grated carrot, you can also add mushrooms. Doing a 50/50 blend of mushrooms and mince is great for dishes like spaghetti bolognese, nachos, burgers, or anything you'd usually use mince for.

2. Add beetroot 

Another veggie you could use is beetroot! Not many people think to add it in. You can use fresh, canned, or vacuumed packed beetroot to mix in with your mince. This combination works really well in any mince dishes but is particularly delicious with burgers.

3. Add parsnip 

Parsnip works really well mixed in with mince dishes as well. Where you usually add carrot in you could swap it out for parsnip which works great in dishes like meatloaf, meatballs, or spaghetti bolognese.

4. Add onions and tinned tomatoes 

If you want to make your meals go further then every time you make a mince dish you should add twice the amount of onions and two cans of tomatoes.

5. Add pulses 

Another trick is to add pulses like lentils, chickpeas, kidney beans, black beans. They work really well when you add them into your mince dish and also make them cheaper and more nutritious.
