How long can raw beef last in the fridge?
Get the most out of your grocery haul with our tips on storing meat.
Sometimes plans change and you may not get around to cooking the mince or steak that's in your fridge. Find out how long raw beef will last in the fridge.

Diced and minced beef can be refrigerated for up to 2 days; steak, ribs and roasts can be refrigerated for up to 5 days.
Storing raw beef in the fridge is crucial to maintain the safety and quality of the meat. Keep it in its original packaging to prevent exposure to air and moisture and place the raw beef on the bottom shelf or the coolest part of the fridge.
If you don’t plan to cook the beef within 2 to 5 days, place it in the freezer as soon as possible (this can be done right up to midnight on the use-by-date). This will extend the beefs storage life and avoid food waste.
Signs that raw beef is unsafe to eat
Before cooking beef check for signs of spoilage such as a smell of rotten eggs, a sticky, slimy texture and green or grey discoloration. Flesh that doesn’t bounce back but leaves a permanent indentation indicates it is off and best discarded.
