How long can fresh pork last in the fridge?

Fresh raw pork can last in the fridge for 2 days but must be cooked before the use-by-date, even if that date is sooner. If you don’t plan to cook it within that time, place it in the freezer as soon as you can (this can be done right up to midnight on the use-by-date). This will extend its shelf life and avoid unnecessary food waste.
Refrigerating tips
Wrap fresh pork in an airtight bag or container and place it on the bottom shelf of the fridge away from cooked food, to prevent food contamination. (If you plan to freeze the pork it may need to be broken into smaller pieces with additional freezer packaging).
When you are ready to cook the pork, remove it from the fridge and check it is still safe to eat. Unsafe pork will be discoloured with a greyish hue and have a strong unpleasant odour indicating it has begun to spoil. The surface of the pork will feel slimy or sticky and it may be sitting in a pool of liquid.
